Man United are preparing the ground for the shock return of Sir Alex Ferguson as they look to replace under-fire boss David Moyes.
CaughtOffside understands that Man United's American owners are ready to bite the bullet and will sack Moyes in the coming weeks with the Scot's only hope of retaining the position in charge of the club being an unlikely win over all conquering Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals.
The Glazers will approach Sir Alex Ferguson in the hope they can persuade the veteran manager to return to the helm on a short term deal that would run for the remainder of the current season as well as next term, with a view to him ushering in a new era.
They would look to team Ferguson with Ryan Giggs and Phil Neville as assistants with the pair then taking over in the long term, though it's not immediately clear who would fill the role as manager and who would better suit an assistant position.
